What is respite care?

Respite care is a care service that we provide for adults and children with developmental disabilities. Respite care has two goals: One, to provide excellent care for your loved one. And two, to give you, your family, and other caregivers a break, since daily caregiving can be a demanding routine. When you count on Inland Respite for our respite care services, you can trust that we’ll connect you with a caregiver and companion who is trained and certified to provide the care and attention that your loved one needs. All caregivers are properly screened and trained, CPR and first-aid certified, and they have prior caregiving experience.

What forms of respite care do you provide?

Here at Inland Respite, we provide in-home respite care, companion care, assistance with daily living needs and daily tasks, and other services. We can also hire and train preferred providers, if you’d like to refer your own caregiver for respite care — you can learn more about our preferred provider services below, or feel free to read more on our respite services page.

  • In-home respite: Our caregivers come to your home, providing care for your loved one. We aim to ensure that your loved one has all the care they need from the comfort of your home. You’re free to do as you please during our in-home respite visits — feel free to rest, do some shopping, or have a bit of fun. Remember, our respite visits are designed to give you a break, too! In-home respite caregivers can also assist with daily living needs and tasks, as mentioned below.

  • Companion care: Everyone can benefit from companion care. Our caregivers bond with those we care for, and we love planning activities and social events to create engaging, fun, rewarding experiences for your loved one. We’ll socialize, make trips to various places (like the zoo or a movie), exercise (like going on a walk or visiting a playground), and enjoy hobbies and crafts. Companions can meet with you and your loved one to help form a lasting bond. Again, companion caregivers can also assist with daily living needs and tasks, as mentioned below.

  • Assisting with daily living needs: From eating to bathing to dressing, we can help your loved one to take care of themselves. We assist and oversee daily living tasks to ensure that your loved one is safe and well cared for while you’re busy or away.Daily living needs may include any of the following activities:

    • Dressing

    • Bathing and grooming

    • Toilet use

    • Cooking and meal help

    • Taking medication

  • Assisting with daily tasks and routines: Our caregiving services extend beyond basic needs. We can also help with routine tasks, like getting ready for the day. Or, we can help with chores as necessary, including vacuuming, doing dishes, etc. We even provide transportation to and from programs, events, and other places.

  • Maintaining a safe home environment: In-home respite means, first and foremost, maintaining a safe home environment. We’ll ensure that your home is safe, by monitoring your loved one and handling any tasks that may be more difficult (like cooking).

  • Providing rest for parents/guardians/family members: You need time for yourself. That’s why we provide respite. We aim to provide parents, guardians, and other family members with time to rest while we care for their loved ones. Once again, parents, guardians, and other family members are free to do as they please while we provide care.

Is Inland Respite an affiliated organization or part of the California Regional Centers program?

Inland Respite is affiliated with California Regional Centers (CRC) under the supervision of the Department of Developmental Services. We follow their guidelines to provide caregiving services, and can work through your local, regional CRC to provide care through their programs. As such, we can provide care services that are covered by various payment options and coverages. If you don’t already know the nearest CRC to your location, feel free to browse through the Regional Centers Directory. Take note, we proudly work alongside CRCs throughout Southern California, and we have offices in Corona, Indio, and Brawley — feel free to reach out to us to learn more about your nearest regional center and our service area.

What kind of transportation do you provide?

Depending on the needs of your loved one, we can provide transportation to and from most destinations in the region. We provide transportation services alongside our caregiving services to bring adults and children to activities, events, medical treatments, and more. Speak with your caregiver to learn about our transportation services.

How much does respite care cost?

Respite costs vary from family to family, depending on the amount of care needed, coverages and qualifications the family or individual may meet, and other factors. Our respite care services are backed by various funding projects (including funding provided through the Department of Developmental Services), which may mean that you can enjoy our services at a reduced rate. If you’re curious about respite care costs, please feel free to reach out to us to learn more.

Do you offer Preferred Provider Services?

Yes! We’re proud to offer preferred provider services for folks who would like to select their own caregiver to serve as a respite provider through our program. With our preferred provider training program, you can elect to choose a caregiver that you’d like to use, and we’ll hire them and provide the training they need to properly care for your loved one, in accordance with California’s guidelines and standards for caregivers. In this way, you can use a caregiver that you already trust, and they can be compensated for their time spent caring for your loved one. If you're further curious about our preferred provider services, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us or read more on our services page.

Where do you provide caregiver and respite services?

Inland Respite offers services throughout much of Southern California, and we have offices in Corona, Indio, and Brawley. If you’re curious whether or not we can provide in-home services at your home, please call us for further details.
